Mufasa

Mufasa: The Lion King is an upcoming American musical drama film directed by Barry Jenkins from a screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson. This is a prequel story to the unforgettable movie The Lion King of Disney.
“Mufasa, a cub lost and alone, meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of a group of misfits searching for their destiny.”

As a professional digital painter myself today, Disney’s influence on my carrier is huge! Disney gave me the inspiration to draw, as a little kid. And the Lion King was a masterpiece which I loved so much when I saw it on theatres, back in 1994.(See the second image- a painting I’ve done with crayons at the age of thirteen)

So since I’ve never done any fan arts for any Disney movies before, I thought it’s time for me to give it a try. Thirty years later, “The Lion King” is coming back with a prequel and there couldn’t be a better opportunity than this.

The movie is in CGI so I imagined a fan poster in classic animation style. Because I think this movie should have been done in 2D cell animation style just like The Lion King, again. A missed opportunity after all those years, in my humble opinion. :(

Looking forward to see another Disney movie in cinemas, again. Featuring songs by award-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, and original score by Dave Metzger, “Mufasa: The Lion King” opens only in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024!
