" The last of the rebels, Harren the Red, was hunted down by the King's Hand, Lord Alyn Stokeworth, and his men. The outlaw and his followers fought to the end, and Harren killed Lord Stokeworth before he was killed in turn by Stokeworth's squire, Bernarr Brune. The King later rewarded these defenders of his crown, knighting Brune, and granting riches, lands, and offices to those who helped bring about the defeat of the rebels. But the greatest reward he gave to his brother, Prince Maegor, whom he named Hand of the King. "
